Inviting in a new season of creativity

springtime seasonal creativity. Daffodils and a chocolate cake on a table, with a recipe book behind

Spring is here! Do you feel the change in the air? In the UK the days are getting warmer and lighter, the bird song is changing and you can almost see the deep cogs of nature turning as the earth underneath us wakes up from winter.

As the seasons around us change, so too does our creative energy, both individually and collectively. I feel that Spring has the same energy as a mid-morning cup of coffee. There’s a sense of movement as things start to happen. A freshness filled with potential for new things to grow. Is it the same for you?

You might find, like me, that what you want to get up to creatively changes in spring. I begin to turn away from my cosy winter yarn crafts and towards more energetic pursuits like organising, planning, drawing and baking (and if you were wondering what that cake is I made in the image above, it’s this gorgeous Torta Tenerina - recipe from Giuseppe Del’Anno).

Spring offers us a creative awakening

When our own cycles and rhythms are aligned with the seasons a wonderful synergy can take place. It’s the ideal time to let ideas land and to sow the seeds of new projects and ventures. As nature rebirths, so too can our creativity.

To support you to do this, below you’ll find nurturing prompts, links and activities for inviting creativity into your life this season.

I hope you enjoy them! 💛

Start with some self-reflection

Put some time aside to consider what role YOU want creativity to play in your life this season. Here’s a few prompts to help…

  • How has creativity played a role in your life over the winter?

  • How is your creative energy feeling at the moment?

  • What creative seeds are you planting?

  • What else is growing in your world at the moment?

  • What creative projects or ideas do you want to bring to life this season?

  • How else do you want creativity to show up in your life in the season ahead?

Enjoy a soundtrack to Spring

I’ve updated a Spring playlist I previously shared in 2023 with 10 songs that feel like Spring to me. It’s got more of a folk/acoustic vibe going this time. You can find the playlist and full track list in the blog post here.

Nurture your ideas

Spring is the season of new life and new beginnings, so it’s a great time to let your ideas flow and see what’s ready to grow.

To help get things rolling, I’ve created a 10-page printable PDF for you, which is an excerpt from my Creative by Nature journal & playbook. You can download it for FREE below.

It includes a sample from the chapter on ideas and inspiration, with a couple of activities to support you to nurture your ideas and creative process.

And if you think you’re not really an “ideas person”? Well, give it a go, and you might just be surprised…

Bring some play in this spring

Make time for some play in the season ahead - pick one of the 3 prompts below and give it a go…
