The Royal Shakespeare Company: Big Green Week

Event overview: As part of their Big Green Week, the Royal Shakespeare Company put on a number of events around Stratford-upon-Avon, including an area for creative family activities in a nearby park. I was employed as a freelancer to help setup and oversee some of the activities that had been created by artists Ali Brown & Kerry Russell.
What I did
I helped to oversee a range of different creative wellbeing activities which had been set up in a public area for families to drop in and join in with. My role was to encourage and invite interested passers-by to join in with the activities, explain the activities to them and engage in conversations that arose from the themes.
The activities on offer
Creating worry potatoes; decorating ceramic ‘potatoes’ with faces, which had a hole in the underside where worries could be written onto a piece of paper and stowed away (activity by artist Kerry Russell).
Creating a badge of kindness; using collage to design a badge with a message of self-kindness to yourself, and then using a badge machine to turn it into a wearable badge (activity by artist Ali Brown).
Planting positive ideas for the future; writing an idea or message of positivity and hope for the future of the world onto a mini paper flag, and then planting some flower seeds into the ground with the message flag on top (activity by artist Ali Brown).
